Leaving the AT&T Tilt (HTC TyTN II) for the Apple iPhone 3GS
Submitted by Matthew Clark on Wed, 23 Sep 2009 - 18:38Well, hell, I made the plunge and bought a damn iPhone. I'd avoided the fad for as long as I could, happily sticking with Windows Mobile based devices. But there were just a few little features that I really liked about Apple's phone that didn't exist anywhere else, so I decided I had to have one. I've had it for a couple of months, now, and I decided I would share a comparative review between iPhone and Windows Mobile (specifically, the AT&T Tilt).

Time Shift
Submitted by Matthew Clark on Wed, 16 Sep 2009 - 07:55It's almost 4pm here. Why am I staring at the clock? I'm at home, and I'm about to go to work. Starting tonight, I'll be at work from 6pm to 6am (which is 10am to 10pm Central). I stayed up until 4am this morning so that I could sleep late today in an effort to shift my clock. At 2pm, I just couldn't sleep anymore. I'm sure I'll be good and worn by tomorrow morning, but I should be fully converted by tomorrow, I think.

Reprint: Looking for Someone to Blame?
Submitted by Matthew Clark on Sun, 06 Sep 2009 - 12:26This is an article written by Charlie Reese back in 1985, but he has revised and republished it several times since then. You may have received this in an email before, possibly with add-ons or incorrect citations. The version below was published in the March 7th edition of the Orlando Sentinel in 1995. It's message is still true -- now more than ever. And what the hell are we doing about it?

Without a goal, where are you?
Submitted by Matthew Clark on Thu, 03 Sep 2009 - 13:50I've reached a revolutionary point, recently. Ever since I left active duty, I've done fairly well. Certain things during that time required help from my family, but overall, I'd say I was a far pitch from doing poorly. But something felt... missing. Hmm, well, it was easy to ignore -- especially during my time at Ener-Tel.
During the past couple of weeks, my mind would return to this thought, and I couldn't help but put some effort into figuring it out. Hmm...

Another 'Little Johnny' joke
Submitted by Matthew Clark on Mon, 31 Aug 2009 - 00:39Little Johnny is at it again! I don't know who's the author of the famous Little Johnny jokes, but most of them are quite amusing. I recently received one in an e-mail, and I'm posting it here -- something I rarely do -- but this one's WAY too funny to keep to myself.

A quote to think about
Submitted by Matthew Clark on Wed, 05 Aug 2009 - 09:38"You cannot legislate the poor into prosperity by legislating the wealthy out of prosperity; what one person receives without working for, another person must work for without receiving. The government cannot give to anybody anything that the government does not first take from somebody else; when half of the people get the idea that they do not have to work because the other half is going to take care of them, and when the other half gets the idea that it does no good to work because somebody else is going to get what they work for, that my dear friend, is the beginning of the end of any nation. You cannot multiply wealth by dividing it."

Dear Obama
Submitted by Matthew Clark on Fri, 17 Jul 2009 - 15:31Dear Mr. Obama:
I don't ever stick my nose into political business, (unlike my buddies Cliff and Dave, but they're just silly Republicans!), but I finally just had to say my piece. For the past six months I've watched you grace my television screen during my daily six-pack of news programming. I usually take only 10% stock in the news being factual and complete, but I believe it's impossible to embellish videos in which you play the lead role. I have watched my government, the one you're in charge of directing, stick their fingers in so many pies that I almost forgot who works for who. Read more »

Back from the dead!
Submitted by Matthew Clark on Wed, 15 Jul 2009 - 00:06
Wow. I've been running my own servers for years, now, and I've never suffered an outage as bad as the one that just occurred over the past week. Starting about Wednesday of last week, I discovered that I could not access my email one evening after work, yet I had just accessed it right before I left the office. As a test, I tried to open my website which is hosted on the same server and it, too, was unresponsive. This would have been about 10am Central time.
