Without a goal, where are you?
Submitted by Matthew Clark on Thu, 03 Sep 2009 - 13:50I've reached a revolutionary point, recently. Ever since I left active duty, I've done fairly well. Certain things during that time required help from my family, but overall, I'd say I was a far pitch from doing poorly. But something felt... missing. Hmm, well, it was easy to ignore -- especially during my time at Ener-Tel.
During the past couple of weeks, my mind would return to this thought, and I couldn't help but put some effort into figuring it out. Hmm...

Ban sports in school? Gretchen is an idiot.
Submitted by Matthew Clark on Wed, 11 Mar 2009 - 08:17As I normally do each morning, I was listening to Fox & Friends on my way to work this morning. I already don't care to listen to Gretchen as she seems to have very strong opinions that are mostly unfounded, I believe. This morning, she was bringing up a headline about schools banning sports and how she agrees with it. What? I didn't get to hear the whole story -- just the headline and her stupid comment. By the way, she is entitled to her own opinion as everyone else is. But my opinion is that she Read more »

The VA saw it my way
Submitted by Matthew Clark on Sun, 22 Jun 2008 - 17:07
Last year, during the fall semester, I signed up for 14 hours of classes. However, due to my demanding work schedule, I was forced to drop two of my classes in order to save my GPA. I am also a beneficiary of the Montgomery GI Bill, administered by the Veterans Affairs. They pay a specific amount each month directly into my bank account depending on the number of semester hours I was taking. When I dropped my classes, I received no refund from the university.

Forcing Beliefs
Submitted by Matthew Clark on Mon, 17 Sep 2007 - 18:08I was in witness of an act that I must comment on, in my opinion, to make things fair. Today, as I was traversing the Angelo State campus to get to my next class, I passed by an aged gentleman who was passing out Gideon's bibles. I must make myself clear as to what I saw: he was not merely standing next to a sign that said "Free, take one", but he was actively pressing them into each person as they walked by. This particular area was one of two signal-controlled crosswalk (the campus is split in two halves by a major street). Both crosswalks were occupied by an old man with bible.

Back to School
Submitted by Matthew Clark on Thu, 06 Sep 2007 - 21:41So it's the end of the second week of school, and so far, so good. I'm taking Botany, Chemistry, English II, and Algebra. Both science classes have a lab. I'm taking 14 hours this semester, but so far, it doesn't seem as bad as last semester. I guess I have this feeling that I'm a sort of "veteran", and having licked this once already, it's easy to do it again and end up much further ahead than I was to begin with. I can already tell that this degree plan will go by quicker than I think.

First day wasn't bad
Submitted by Matthew Clark on Tue, 16 Jan 2007 - 22:12Attended my first day of English and Biology. Not too bad. Tomorrow, it'll be Psychology and Math. I will mention this: there may not be too many updates here very often, as attending school all morning, then going to work until late at night, and hours and hours of study time will leave me with very little free time...

Back to school
Submitted by Matthew Clark on Sat, 06 Jan 2007 - 21:53Well, classes start on the 16th, and so I'm down to my last week of freedom. I'll still be putting in 40 hours per week at work while trying to cram in 13 hours of school. The VA will be paying me $1,075 each month, and that just just barely covers my tuition. The only thing I have to pay for is books! Er, perhaps I should rub out that exclamation point, as there is nothing exciting about dropping $418 for books -- ouch!

Spring 2007 is my time
Submitted by Matthew Clark on Thu, 26 Oct 2006 - 11:44Albeit a little behind my peers, it's finally time for me to pursue my education. Today I completed the final steps for registering for the Spring semester at Angelo State University and getting my Montgomery GI Bill benefits started. Now, all I can do is sit and wait for a letter to arrive in the mail from ASU and the Government.
